Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Raheem Sterling flew out of the blocks to get Manchester City's season off to a winning start. Wearing the Nike Elite Pack Mercurial Vapor XI, the England winger won his side a penalty in the opening minutes against Sunderland, which Sergio Aguero clinically dispatched on the way to a 2-1 win at the Etihad.

Alvaro Negredo (Middlesbrough) New Balance Furon 2.0

Alvaro Negredo scored on his Middlesbrough debut as the Premier League new boys marked their return to the big time with a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City. The former Man City frontman was laced up in the new New Balance Furon 2.0 colourway, a design that perfectly complemented the Boro home strip.

Fraser Forster (Southampton) Nike Magista Opus

It appears that Fraser Forster hasn't managed to pen himself a boot contract over the summer. The big Southampton stopper ended the 2015/16 season wearing unbranded boots and he's begun the new campaign in an all white Nike Magista Opus with removed Swooshes. Although, he was sporting the "Spark Brilliance Pack" throughout England training at Euro 2016. One for new Southampton sponsor Under Armour, perhaps?

Anas Al Asabahi (Wydad Athletic) adidas X 15.1

One of the tidiest boot/kit combinations on show this week was in Morocco, on the feet of Anas Al Asabahi who had paired up his adidas Wydad kit with a matching red and white miadidas edition of the X 15.1. Smart stuff, indeed.

Tom Bradshaw (Barnsley) Nike Mercurial Superfly V

Tom Bradshaw has become the latest player to opt for a modified Nike Mercurial Superfly V. The Barnsley striker has cut off the Dynamic Fit Collar to create somewhat of a Flyknit Vapor, and he isn't alone with this tactic. A number of professionals have been busy with the scissors, which must have put the thought of a Flyknit Vapor into Nike's mind.

Janine Beckie (Canada) Under Armour Spotlight 2.0

Canada's Janine Beckie has been sporting a lesser spotted edition of the Under Armour Spotlight 2.0 at the Olympic Games in Brazil this summer. The Canadian has been equipped with a white and red colourway of the brand's latest boot that flows seamlessly into the Canada home kit.

Kapfumvuti (Zimbabwe) adidas F10

The Olympic games has thrown up a number of random old school football boots, none more so on the feet of Zimbabwe's Kapfumvuti who has been wearing the adidas F10 from 2010. The F10 was a takedown model of the F50 series at a budget price, but that hasn't stopped it from featuring on one of the world's biggest stages this summer in Rio.

Sido Jombati (Wycombe) Nike Match Mercurial

Wycombe's Sido Jombati took things way back in the League Cup last week by sporting a pair of Nike Match Mercurial's in "Black/Blue", originally launched in the year 2000. The last boot of the Mercurial series before the Vapor started flying the flag in 2002. A true classic, can't be many of these still knocking about, especially on pitch. Top effort, Sido.

Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea) adidas X 16+ PURECHAOS

It was a blackout shutout for Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday as Lukas Fabianski kept a clean sheet to give Swansea a 1-0 win in their Premier League opener. The Swans 'keeper was wearing the brand new adidas "Dark Space" X 16+ PURECHAOS boot that launched last week, a boot that packs an old-school vibe on what is arguably adidas' most advanced football footwear technology to date.

Jobi Jones (Coventry) Nike Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD

Jobi Jones was just eight months old when Ronaldo wore the Mercurial R9 in the 1998 World Cup in France. The young Coventry winger laced up in the celebratory Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD edition of the famous boot this week, that uses the unmistakable blue, silver and yellow colourway and places it on the silhouette of the Mercurial Superfly V.
