With the release of the new v1.11 range, we thought it would be worth showcasing the Puma v1.815 Ferrari one more time, because in our view they are still one of the most stunning football boots ever to be crafted!

In the lead up to the launch of the new Puma v1.11 football boots, we featured a timeline of the previous boots from the v1 range. It soon became apparent that not only did boot fans want to see more of the Ferrari v1.815, but that some fans had never even seen the boots before! So here they are in all their glory...

The Puma v1.815 Ferrari football boots were released early 2009, after designers at Puma had spent two years collaborating, creating and crafting the v1.815 Ferrari with alterations and additions to make them the ultimate elite level boot. The end result were these ultra-limited, highly desirable Puma v1.815 Ferrari Editions, and if you're wondering how they got their name, it's after the very first Ferrari the Auto Avio Costruzioni (AAC) 815.

One thing is for sure - you cannot argue with the looks. The flowing lines of the Puma stripe perfectly match the silhouette of the boot giving a sleek overall style. Even from a distance, the racing pedigree of this boot is apparent, confirmed by the classy addition of the Ferrari prancing horse logo to the side of the boot.

Every little detail on this boot exudes premium and quality. Gold stitching runs around the tongue, under the toe area and inside the boot as the gold Puma stripes and Big Cat provide the contrast and racing car feel. The off centre lacing means there is a large clean strike area - if you're bold enough to kick a ball with these beauties!

The Puma v1.815 sports the vibrant red and gold colourway, traditionally associated with both Ferrari and Puma. The Ferrari red traces its' roots back to the way the origins of Formula 1, where each country was assigned a colour. Red was assigned to Italian cars, Green to English, Blue to France and so on. The red for Ferrari has remained ever since and now is iconic with some of the greatest moments in the sports history.

Fans familiar with Puma's v1 series will already know about the acceleration, agility and performance benefits the boots can give. But one of the most stunning and groundbreaking developments of the Puma v1.815, was the weight.

A pioneer, the v1.815 weighed an incredible 165 grams, surpassing the likes of the Superfly and F50 range of the time by some distance, and is still to this day a forerunner in the weight category. In many ways the Puma v1.815 soccer cleats were revolutionary, as many of its innovations found their way onto the production boots of the v1 series over the coming years.

A lighter weight textile material graces the upper and has added abrasion and water resistance properties. A slim fitter, the Puma Ferrari boot fit snugly and close to your foot, largely thanks to another Puma innovation - AptoLast - which conforms the upper to the your natural foot curves.

An even lighter Pebax frame forms the outsole base, with carbon-fiber composite inserts reducing the weight even further, now to be found integrated in the v1 SL range. Each sole also beared the unique number edition - out of 815 - and benefitted from a revised external heel counter and new rear stud configuration. All designed to offer greater grip, acceleration and deceleration in the quest for ultimate speed.

Only 815 pairs of the ultra-limited edition Puma v1.815 football boots were made available worldwide, at a cost of what now seems a reasonable £250 GBP / $400 USD / €280 EURO. Presented in a luxurious, black boot box split into two compartments. The lid opens to reveal the boots sitting in a moulded casing in the base with a special Ferrari booklet in the lid, packed full of heritage and iconic imagery from decades of motorsport.

The Puma v1.815 Ferrari boot's were truly a stunning and memorable release. Completely unique, we'd love to hear your opinions, share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
